“Transitioning” © c.c. Snowden 2023
The calendar days are all crossed off,
Your youngest years are through.
There’s big change ahead, ready or not,
Believe me, I’ve been there too.
I was once your age and I survived,
The transitions from kid to teen.
The relationships and harder math,
And everything that’s in between.
But I didn’t stop, once I passed that mark,
More changes were around the bend.
The college years grew me up some more,
And I realized, that changes don’t end.
Because there I was at twenty-five,
Footloose and fancy free.
With a nine to five and rent to pay,
And more responsibility.
I loved those years, and the ones that followed,
The settling down years and starting “my nest.”
Taking all I knew and passing it down,
To help your transitions be the best.
Embrace it all, and don’t be scared,
You may not appreciate or understand.
Each phase is great, just be yourself,
And when you need to, grab my hand.
Love,
Mom
